Taustatietoa K\u00e5rotista<\/span><\/h2>\n

K\u00e5rot (K\u00e5nala-Rotterdam) on viulisti <\/span>Nea-Maria Korpelaisen<\/span><\/a> ja kielisoittaja <\/span>Joonas Ojaj\u00e4rven<\/span><\/a> vuonna 2025 perustama duo, joka syntyi j\u00e4sentens\u00e4 yhteisest\u00e4 tarpeesta luoda tekij\u00f6idens\u00e4 kuuloista musiikkia, vapaana tyylillisist\u00e4 tai taloudellisista ennakko-odotuksista.<\/span><\/p>\n

Duon j\u00e4senill\u00e4 on vahva tausta pohjoismaisessa kansanmusiikissa ja opintoja useista muista musiikkityyleist\u00e4. K\u00e5rot ei l\u00e4ht\u00f6kohtaisesti halua lokeroitua mihink\u00e4\u00e4n yhteen genreen, mutta t\u00e4m\u00e4nhetkisen s\u00e4velaineiston perusteella sen musiikkia voisi luonnehtia hetkess\u00e4 el\u00e4v\u00e4ksi, hengitt\u00e4v\u00e4ksi nykykansanmusiikiksi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nea-Maria Korpelainen on musiikin tuplamaisteri (Codarts Rotterdam, Siba), joka t\u00e4ll\u00e4 hetkell\u00e4 ty\u00f6skentelee soitonopettajana kotikaupungissaan Rotterdamissa.<\/span>
<\/span>Joonas Ojaj\u00e4rvi on maisteriksi (Siba) valmistuttuaan mm. s\u00e4velt\u00e4nyt ohjelmistoja kansantanssiryhmille ja esiintynyt ymp\u00e4ri Suomen, vieden kansanmusiikkia kouluihin ja palvelutaloihin.<\/span><\/p>\n

About K\u00e5rot<\/span><\/h2>\n

K\u00e5rot (K\u00e5nala-Rotterdam) is a duo founded in 2025 by <\/span>Nea-Maria Korpelainen<\/span><\/a> (Master of Music Codarts Rotterdam, Master of Music SibA Helsinki) and <\/span>Joonas Ojaj\u00e4rvi<\/span><\/a> (Master of Music SibA). The project was born from a shared need to create music that authentically reflects its members, free from stylistic -or economic- preconceptions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both musicians have strong backgrounds in Nordic contemporary folk music and have also studied a variety of musical styles outside the Nordic countries. Drawing from these influences, they create rich, nuanced instrumental music rooted in and reshaping Nordic folk traditions\u2014music that lives and breathes in the moment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nea-Maria Korpelainen holds two master\u2019s degrees in music (Codarts Rotterdam, SibA Helsinki) and is at the moment working as a teacher in violin in her hometown of Rotterdam.<\/span>
<\/span>Joonas Ojaj\u00e4rvi, after graduating as a Nordic Master in Folk Music (Siba Helsinki) has been performing around Finland, bringing traditional folk music to schools and retirement homes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alla on elokuun ja lokakuun 2025 aika j\u00e4rjestettyjen, noin viikon mittaisien, sovitussessioiden aikana tehtyj\u00e4 harjoitus\u00e4\u00e4nitteit\u00e4. \u00c4\u00e4nitteill\u00e4 on pyritty ilment\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n rakennetta ja saamaan sovituksellisia ideoita talteen. Kappaleita ei ole viel\u00e4 sovitettu aivan valmiiksi, eik\u00e4 harjoiteltu.

Below are practice recordings made during the roughly week-long arrangement sessions held in August and October 2025. The recordings aim to explore and scetch the structure\/form of the tunes and capture arrangement ideas. The pieces have not yet been fully arranged or rehearsed. Alongside the recordings are the original notations of the tunes.<\/p>\n<\/div>
